How are we at the end of the month again? I feel like I have achieved so much this year and yet none of them seem to be the actual goals I sent for myself despite the fact that i still feel like my set goals are super important.

One of my 20 goals for 2020 was to write 20 blog posts and another was 12 You Tube videos. Since I was already tracking two of my Faerydae Stitches social media, I decided to add Facebook and Instagram too since they were all massively neglected for two years. In September I managed to smash them all! I am now committed to writing 3 blog posts a week and I cannot wait to reach my 100th blog post. Then along with blogging more I have done a whole revamp of my Etsy store so having new listings has meant I have posted more on IG and FB too. Now to make progress on You Tube!!!
This is another one that has severely benefitted from my new blogging practise… how can I let you all know about my finished projects if I am not actually finishing them! I have 3 months to get in 8 sewing days which i think is totally doable. I have at least 2 days holiday in October, 2 MQG days, plans for sewing on NYE (have you seen the news on Instagram and Facebook?). So I only have to find 3 extra days to sew for 6 hours. I totally think I can pull that off.
Clearly I have really struggled with this one.. should I count the two days that I was suffering with cold and just laid in bed watching movies and you tube in between sleeping? I have mixed feelings about counting them… on the one hand, 2018 Donna would have worked through it and made the cold last weeks and feeling miserable. Present Donna thinks that it should just be normal behaviour to listen when your body is sick and give it time to heal thus resting for sickness isn’t an intentional act of self care.
However, I totally made use of the rest time to watch some new movies on Netflix. I genuinely thought this would be much easier to achieve and maybe with all the Christmas movies starting to appear on Netflix and Amazon, I might just have to give myself some indulgent movie nights. 20 new movies in 13 weeks should totally be possible and it isn’t exactly a chore to watch Disney Plus.
Honestly I am totally failing on this year and I genuinely want to achieve two of them. At the start of September Emily and I started going on lunch time walks when the weather was nice, then I got ill, then Emily got ill and it hasn’t really picked back up again. There is an additional walk not record when i took the phot for 30th September that I snuck in when I remembered we had to be out of the house for our cleaner to come. I am determined to achieve at least the walking goal. There is no reason not to. To be fair, the only reason I have an excuse for the weights is because my living room seems to be permanent covered in Lego. That isn’t really an excuse though because getting the weights in should be more important than avoiding the hassle of getting Xander to pick up his lego.

So that is it. Only 5 updates on 19 goals (the 20th goal is a finance one which I have changed focus slightly and have totally smashed so wooooo!). I have a lot of work to do in the last quarter.

As a reminder of the other goals not shown above:

Complete 20 UFOs: I have completed 8 so far and plan on tackling this on my 2 days holiday. I have 7 tops that just need to be quilted and various overs partially completed that can be quickly finished to have them ticked off.

Create 3 Patterns: Now this one won’t be completed unfortunately but I am okay with that because I have created 30 new digital shapes for EPP, and almost 100 other products ready to go when my new purchase arrives at the weekend (more on that in a couple of weeks).

Play 20 Board Games: We have played 7 so far and there is potential to get this higher especially with the Christmas holidays where we have a week off that is likely to be spent at home rather than in Cornwall this year.

Make 20 Journals: Well I have only made three and I am cutely aware that I am dying a whole bunch of paper ready to make these a thing. Currently I have tea, coffee, yellow, orange, red, blue and green dyed paper. I still want purple, pink and black. I am also curious what colour Dr Pepper will dye paper? Hmm, not sure I am ready to use a bottle for that purpose yet.

Complete 20 Acts of Craft Kindness: I have a whole bunch of things ready to send out for this so I want this goal ticked off next month.

Complete 20 Acts of Kindness to strangers: I have completed one of these acts but really I think this is going to end up being tied to the crafty acts but in that I am sending things to people who I have never met or don’t regularly talk to/follow on social media. So again, October is a big month for fulfilling these goals.

Declutter the attic: This is 2/3rds done and I need to convince Emily that we should finish it off before Christmas.

Bonnie Hunter’s Mystery Quilt: This doesn’t start until November and this year is the year where I actually follow the clues rather than reading the blog posts then not actually doing the sewing.

Give to 20 Charities: I am up to 7 on this and I really want to hit 20 by the end of the year. This could be in the donations of things or money. 4 out of the 7 are contributions I make monthly which i feel good about but i would love to get to a point where I am donating 10% of my income to causes that feel important to me.

Complete Dragon Age 3: I am not quite sure that I will ever get to finishing this game! Maybe then should announce DA4 release date to give me the ultimate motivation. Though again if I have to spend Christmas at home this year then I think evenings might be filled with this once Xander goes to bed.

Make 20 plans with friends: Well thank you COVID for ruining this one. No friend visits or plans this year but maybe I should spend December making plans for 2021 or 2022 and get them booked into the calendar. Does that count?

How have you done with September and what are your goals for October?

See you on Tuesday
