Good Morning, Good Life

As I researched commonplace journals I discovered Amy Landino via You Tube. Her Channel AmyTV is full of tips on how to build the life YOU want. She post several times a week on topics such as morning routines, productivity, vlogging, building your brand and much more. This kind of thing is super appealing especially as I come out of my 18 month fatigue and want to start hitting some of those goals.

At the end of 2019 she launched her book “Good Morning, Good Life” and as soon as I discovered it’s existence I hopped on over to Amazon to get it on Kindle. The tag line for the book is “5 simple habits to master your mornings and upgrade your life”. Well doesn’t that sound magical!!!

The book itself was extremely informative, sounded just like Amy’s many videos and full of interviews asking about their morning routines. The best bit is that your morning routine is 100% what is best for you though Amy suggests that there should be Movement, Mindfulness and Mastery. Amy is a personal fan of other well known creators such as Julia Cameron’s Morning Pages, the 5 minute Journal, and Gretchen Rubin. This fact makes it super easy for me because I also love these creators and their advice but Amy looks at it in a new way. It isn’t about having the perfect morning it is about engineering the start of your day, your way, so YOU can start the day as ready as possible to tackle the inevitable imperfections that will pop up.

I also love her continuous message throughout the book about communication because it helps you plan for the obstacles and finding a solution for them rather than thinking “but i have kids” or ” I have 4 jobs”.

Just FYI, Amy is NOT a morning person. I am, so engineering a morning routine isn’t super difficult for me because (at the moment) I am waking up naturally between 5 and 530am. However, I often struggle when away from home, but due to some of Amy’s tricks I even managed to add it in to my recent camping trip which made me feel great that I could continue to say I have a running streak of morning routines.

I feel so strongly about how much I love this book that I have started supporting Amy via Patreon and following her on all social media platforms that I currently use.

A couple of my favourite quotes from the book to leave you with:

“Wake up on your terms, nobody else’s”

“We are here to LIVE a LIFE. Not just a morning”

“Even if no one is around you when you get up each day, how you begin your process is a moment to show yourself what you’re willing to do even when no-one is watching”

“If you are a victim about how you sleep, how do you think you are when you’re awake”

See you on  Thursday
