2020 Finished Project 3

So this quilt I am super excited about because Xander actually chose the fabrics, helped iron and cut then stitched the first two rows together (back in April 2019!). I then took the rest to Modern Quilt Club retreat in October, where I completed the top and handed it to Abigail of Cut&Alter to have it long armed.

Abigail was great because I wanted a design of an elephant on the quilt that she didn’t have. We negotiated the additional cost of this and she purchased the design for me.

I got the quilt back in November with the intention of adding the binding in time to gift the quilt to Xander on Christmas Day. Well, that didn’t actually go to plan because I was running low on enthusiasm and I had a tonne of other presents to finish sewing (everyone got given cushions last year for Christmas).

The quilt has been in use since Christmas without a binding so whilst I was on holiday I decided to make one of my holiday missions to be to give the quilt some binding. Surprisingly it only took me 4 hours to cut, iron, and sew the binding on this quilt, really highlighting that if i get through to this point then it really is just worth finishing it off to reduce the UFO guilt.

And yay! It was washed and dried in time to take camping (like dried overnight just before we left). It is so nice to have this off my list of UFO’s. (Please excuse the mess that is my living room in the below picture)
